“What does it mean?”
This is a common question often asked by participants in my beginner sandplay trainings. When I often respond with, “stay in the mystery”, I get groans of frustration :-) And I understand the desire to know more about what is happening in the sandplay processes we hold for our clients! This group is an opportunity to do some exploration into the understanding, while continuing to learn how to stay out of the way of the client’s process. We traverse both places, the curiosity and the mystery, in our work.
What to Expect:
This dynamic group will explore sandplay scenes and processes in order to help deepen the understanding of the work.
Focus will include:
• Learning how to follow a process;
• How to understand what the work in the sand, itself, might indicate;
• Identifying transference and countertransference to deepen the work;
• Identifying symbolic story and meaning.
Key Details:
For clinicians and professionals: This is an online consultation group for clinicians and professionals who have at least basic, introductory experience in sandplay. It is recommended that participants have some present or past clinical use of sandplay with clients, although it is not required for this level.
Monthly Meetings:
The group will meet twice monthly, for two months (a total of four meetings), and meetings will be 1.5 hours long. If, after two months, there is a desire to prolong the group, that will be up for discussion at the end of meeting four. It is required that participants commit to all four meetings for the safety of the group process. No new participants will be added to the group once it starts. Payment can be made monthly prior to each meeting.
Deepen your work as a Therapist: There will continue to be a focus, as taught in my Introduction to Sandplay series, on learning how to hold the space of Sandplay.
Preparing a Case for Study: Participants will have a brief overview on how to prepare for case consultation, an invaluable tool in the learning process.
The Power of the Group Process to learn: Participants will have an opportunity to present a case, or to just bring some images for the group to look at. Together the group will explore the images and the process in order to instigate a depth of understanding and consideration of the client’s process.
A package of 4 Training Sessions: Four extensive, rewarding sessions developed and presented by Ruth Castellano.
